Reaching Students

When Bill and Vonette Bright first launched Campus Crusade for Christ as a campus ministry in 1951, the underlying concept was to “ win the campus today and change the world tomorrow. ” More than 50 years later, the mission remains the same.

Today, the campus ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in the MidSouth Region is a network of vibrant, growing movements on more than 75 campuses in North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Proven and diverse outreach strategies expose these students to the gospel each year. Over the past five years, more than 37,900 students nationally made a decision to become a Christian.

All campus ministries employ one main strategy: Win students to Christ, Build them up in their faith, Send them out to reach others.

Field Strategies

Because our goal is to reach every student on every campus in the MidSouth Region, we implement specifically designed strategies for every campus to accomplish this.

Large Campuses

The structure of our ministry is designed to reach the maximum number of students in the most effective ways. Large campuses in our region such as North Carolina State and the University of Tennessee have a team of full-time, support-based staff that is focused on getting the gospel in front of every student on that campus, building into the lives of Christian students and raising up leaders among the students to go abroad and help launch new ministries. The MidSouth Region has staff on 16 large campuses.

Cities or Locations with Smaller Campuses

Faced with the realization that thousands of college students in the MidSouth Region are on campuses with no full-time Campus Crusade staff, we are trusting God for leaders to effectively minister on every unreached campus. We look for a key student, a church partnership, a professor, who can help launch and lead the ministry on locations like Central Kentucky campuses and South Carolina Low-Country. We currently have 9 cities and locations with ministries like this.

Ethnic Student Ministries

Ethnic Student Ministries (ESM) formed out of a desire to see ethnic college students have at the opportunity to hear the gospel. There are currently three types of movements on various campuses in the MidSouth Region:

  • Bridges International Movement
  • Destino Latin-American Movement
  • Impact African-American Movement
