What is Ethnic Student Ministries?
Ethnic Student Ministries is one of the major strategies
by which Campus Crusade for Christ hopes to address the ethnic dimension
of the scope of its mission of "turning lost students into Christ-centered
laborers." We are committed to seeing ethnic college students
turned into Christ-centered laborers.
We also seek to promote reconciliation and unity within the body of
Christ. Currently, there are three tracks of ethnic emphasis to African
Americans (Impact), Asian Americans (Epic) and Hispanic Americans
(Destino). What is The
Impact Movement?
Impact [www.impactmovement.com]
is a movement of evangelism and discipleship among African Americans
on the campus, extending into the community and, ultimately, to
the world. This movement is committed to the fulfillment of the
Great Commission with a special interest in and commitment to reaching,
equipping and training those of the African Diaspora.
Why do we need Impact and
Ethnic Student Ministries?
We live in a time of rapid change. By the year 2060, more
than half the population of the United States will trace their roots
to Africa, Asia, and Latin or South America. Yet, student involvement
in mission organizations like Campus Crusade for Christ in this
country doesn’t reflect this change.
Nationally, the number of white students on campus is actually decreasing
while the number of African American, Asian American and Latino
American students continues to grow. If we fail to increase our
capacity to turn ethnic students into Christ-centered laborers,
we are neglecting a growing part of the student population.
What is God doing here in the Triangle?
Our team of seven here in the Triangle believe that God
wants to see every lost ethnic minority student have a culturally
relevant opportunity to say, “Yes!” to a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ. As these same students are discipled and trained in
their new faith we believe that they will also be sent to the world
to win, build and send others in the workplace or in full-time Christian
service.
Currently, we are targeting African American students on all eight
of the four-year colleges here in the Triangle. We have seen dozens
of students come to faith in Jesus Christ over the past semester,
new campus ministries launched and several students from our ministries
pursue full time ministry. Our potential for making an even bigger
impact on the Triangle is increasing day-by-day! |
